Race for Gardiner City Council District 3
Ms. Marron offered the following information about her race:
We searched for a long time before choosing Gardiner as our home. After several years of research, we chose Gardiner because of its community, commitment to revitalization, and a quaint downtown. We purchased a building on Water Street and are making it our home.
I have lived in Washington, D.C. for the better part of the last 20 years. For 15+ years, I have worked for Appalachian Spring, a retail company with five stores and a website that specialize in American Handcrafts. My responsibilities over those years ranged from managing stores to developing and implementing training programs. I have managed budgets and staff, trained managers, written product descriptions and organized inventories. I continue to work as a consultant on their website and email campaigns. I also worked as a Community Organizer on environmental issues while working as a Canvass Director for Clean Water Action and the Alaska Center for the Environment.
I have decided to run for City Council because I want to be an active participant of the community. I look forward to being a part of the growth and change of our home.
This is a response from The Valley Voice Post: “Notice to Local Candidates for Municipal Office” at thevalleyvoice.org. If you are a candidate for public office our readers would love to hear from you.

Let me put it this way. Clare is the only person my mother would let me live with off-campus when we were in college together in DC. At that point I remember telling her once I didn't know if I was a democrat or a republican. Shows you how political I was. She said, simply, what are the issues you care about? And that was that. I'm a republican through and through. KIDDING!!!
She's smart, sensible, honest, reliable, funny, confident, and real. I don't call her Sally Sensible for nothing!
Anything Clare throws herself into she does with great passion. I was rooming with her when she was canvassing for Clean Water Action, and remember the crazy hours she kept. The miles she walked, rain or shine. And I remember she rarely, if ever, complained. About anything.
Clare is one of the few people I know whose grass is greener on her side of the fence because of the positive attitude she has on life.
She would make a wonderful City Council member.
