Partnering to Preserve & Promote Downtown Bath, Maine
2009 was a positive year for Bath. Our downtown continues on the upswing, with Maine Hosting Solutions announcing its acquisition of Great Works Internet’s Web Hosting Division in December, expansions at Lisa-Marie’s Made-in-Maine and Mariner’s Compass Quilt Shop on Front Street’s lower block and the rapid construction of a new downtown hotel, all just a part of the general activity.
Front Street’s 2009 designation as a “Great Street” by the American Planning Association brought well-deserved recognition to the City of Ships, and in 2010, Bath can expect to receive additional attention from the press. Currently in the works are two magazine spreads on Bath. In March, Maine. magazine will devote a “48-hours” feature to Bath, and the May “Vacation Planner” issue of Downeast Magazine will include a bound-in supplement featuring Bath’s maritime history, culture and attractions, giving our city national exposure in approximately 131,000 issues.
The preservation-minded attitude of our city and civic leaders over the past 50 years has brought us to a place where we now live, work and play in a beautiful urban center…and we are ready for our close-up!
Speaking of photos…don’t forget to send us your holiday and winter snapshots and check out the entries we’ve already received for our Winter Photo Contest! The contest continues through February 28th.
