Wood Carving Classes
Rene Pomerleau, expert wood carver, will teach this fine art at the Cohen Center starting on each Mon., from 12:45 to 2:45. Learn how to carve everything from whittling a stick with a pocket knife to carving a flower or animal sculpture with specialty hand tools. Classes are $2.00 each. National Heart Health & Salt Intake Awareness Month
In recognition of National Heart Month and Salt Intake Awareness Month, on Feb. 10 at 12:30, nutrition expert Tricia Dunton of Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston will discuss diet recommendations from the American Heart Association. There will be a specific focus on the salt/sodium content of various foods and which foods to avoid. We’ll also explore smart menu selections when eating at a restaurant. A Health Risk Assessment tool will be utilized during the seminar as Tricia addresses the topic of how to achieve healthier living by reducing modifiable health risk factors. Please pre-register.
AARP Safety Drivers’ Course
The AARP Driver Safety Program is a refresher course for drivers age 55 and older and will be offered at the Cohen Center on Feb. 11, from 9:00AM to 2:00PM. The cost is $14.00 for AARP members and $16.00 non-members. Lunch is $4 for over age 60 and $5 under age 60 or bring your lunch. Living Well for Better Health ~ Chronic Disease Self Management
