Over the course of her professional career, Herman has worked and volunteered in the nonprofit, healthcare, social service, education, and governmental/public policy sectors. She has traveled the state extensively, forging relationships with a wide variety of leaders in business, government, creative and non-profit organizations.

As a partner with Cohen-Herman Associates and later principal of MjHerman Associates in Augusta, she represented a diverse set of clients including trial lawyers, community action agencies, home health agencies, primary care residencies, Central Maine Power, Poland Spring Bottling, and many others.

During her tenure as First Lady, Herman was known for her strong support of Maine small businesses, local artisans and children’s issues. She also chaired the Maine Family Literacy Task Force, initiating Read to ME which provides every Maine kindergartner with a new book.

In describing her new business, Herman uses phrases such as “problem solving,” “making connections,” “fresh perspectives,” and “building the team.” While not offering lobbying services, she can provide help in formulating public policy strategy, head-hunting, and finding solutions which work in a resource-constrained environment.
