Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center Elects New Board Members.

JohnsonHall.redfront2.06 Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center welcomes new members recently elected to the Board of Directors.  Cynthia Yachanin of Augusta began her board membership on January 26. Cindy retired after 25 years at Savings Bank of Maine where she was a supervisor in charge of computer operations.  She has been on Board of Kennebec Performing Arts Co for over 20 years, and has done volunteer work for Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Cindy is a singer with KPAC and serves on the Development Committee of Johnson Hall.  Yachanin joins two other recent new board members. Charles Batchelder of Gardiner is a life-long educator. Since 1967 he has served various communities in a variety of roles from teacher, guidance counselor, principal to superintendent. He presently works as an Educational Technician in the Alternative Education Program at Gardiner Regional Middle School.  He is chairman of the Gardiner Waste Water Treatment Plant Advisory Committee, and serves on the Johnson Hall Development Committee.

Nancy Davis of West Gardiner was elected Secretary of the board, and is also on the Development Committee. She retired after 25 years in the Maine Department of Administrative & Financial Services/ Office of Information Technology. Nancy has a degree in Public Administration from University of Maine Augusta, and is past president of Maine Business and Professional Women’s Organization.  She is also the former Chair of the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame and member of the Maine Women’s Lobby.

They join the board at a time when Johnson Hall is in a partnership with the City of Gardiner, Gardiner Main Street and Gardiner Board of Trade working on the pre-development phase of Johnson Hall’s renovation into a 400-seat theater with lobbies, dressing rooms and meeting rooms.  The fully-restored facility is expected to produce a significant economic boost to the region.

Other Johnson Hall board members are: John Shaw, President; Maggie Smith, Vice President; Dennis Doiron, Treasurer; Phyllis Gardiner; Carla Noyes, and Paul Pidgeon.  Established in 1989, Johnson Hall is a tax-exempt nonprofit.
