The colorful and whimsical children’s books Junie B. Jones will be brought to life on the Camden Opera House stage March 13th at 3 PM by the renowned equity actor theatre group, Theatreworks USA.
General admission tickets are $12 in advance – all ages; and $12 ages 10 and under and $14 ages 11 and over at the door the day of the show. Available at: Camden Town Offices Monday through Friday 9 AM – 3 PM; www.camdenoperahouse.com or by phone at (207) 470-7066. Recommended for audiences age 5 and up.
The show is a musical based on the books by Barbara Park that features outspoken, precocious, lovable Junie B. Jones in a funny and fast-paced musical about new friends, new glasses, the annual kickball tournament and other various first-grade angst-ridden situations. Follow her adventures as she writes down the story of her life in her “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal.”
This musical is based on four volumes in Barbara Park’s Junie B. Jones series of books, illustrated by Denise Brunkus and published by Random House: Junie B, First Grader (at Last!) Junie B., Boss of Lunch; Junie B, One-Man Band, and Top Secret Personal Beeswax: A Journal by Junie B (and Me).
The show was nominated in 2006 for the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical and Choreography. The musical was written by Broadway writers Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich. The production is directed by Peter Flynn and choreographed by off-Broadway choreographer Devanand Janki. After a brief New York City-area tour in spring 2004, Junie B. Jones premiered Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in July 2004, and is now one of Theatreworks USA’s most popular productions, touring nationally each year.
Theatreworks USA has a distinguished history of providing young audiences with their first taste of the performing arts, and also giving young actors, writers, directors and designers an early opportunity to work in this field.
How to purchase your ticket(s) to an event at the Camden Opera House
The Camden Opera House is currently primarily a rental facility – that is we do not produce many of the events that are held here. Due to this, many presenters sell their tickets via separate means.
For most events, you should have several options for purchasing tickets, which may include local outlets, a “Buy Tickets” button directly from our website and the specific event listing, or by phone at (207) 470-7066 and/or our on-site Box Office the day or night of the event. If our event is offered through our website Box Office service, you will now have the option of printing your ticket at home!
Camden Opera House is pleased to announce that we have recently signed on with Ticket Biscuit for our online event management and ticket sales. Although online ticket sales are not available for every event, they are a quick and easy way to purchase tickets for many of the productions at the Camden Opera House. Frequent Camden Opera House patrons may find that it is convenient to set up a Ticket Biscuit account – please click here for our Account Management page where you can find further information.
