As the founder of Jon Butcher Axis, Grammy Nominated Jon BUTCHER is one of a select handful of influential recording artists comprising the now legendary Boston music scene.
The MTV videos ‘Life Takes A Life’, ‘Wishes, ‘Holy War’ and ‘Goodbye Saving Grace’ were the beginnings of a recording/ touring and television career that continues to this day. Jon’s love and respect for the traditional American music form: Jazz, Dixieland, Blues, and Folk is well documented and has found its way onto every Jon Butcher release from 1998′s ‘Positively The Blues’ to ‘Barefoot Servants 2’, and beyond.

2002 saw the creation of Electric Factory Music, providing film score, soundtrack and music licensing for television and film companies looking for something-special. With it’s launch at FOX, Electric Factory has provided music for The Simpsons (FOX), Six Feet Under (HBO), The Sopranos (HBO), Deadwood (HBO), United States of Tara (Showtime), Ugly Betty (ABC), My Name Is Earl (NBC), The Life and Times of Buffalo Bill (A+E) and a plethora of others network and cable television, and feature film hits .
“I’ve always believed that creative people have to be willing to see themselves in new ways. Challenges are merely chances to become more today than you were the day before, and I still believe the relationship between music and film can change minds.” With a discography of 18 national and international releases, international critical acclaim, awards and a host of current film, television and CD projects on-going its hard to argue with the notion that Jon continues to change minds with his music.
“The opportunity music provides for influence around the world is powerful, undeniable”, Jon explains, “These are pivotal times we live in, too important to ignore. The challenge is to find your voice.”

Charlie FARREN emerged onto the national scene in the early ’80s as lead singer and guitarist with THE JOE PERRY PROJECT. In that band Charlie established himself as one of the hottest young singers to emerge from the Boston music scene, writing the hits ‘Listen To The Rock’ and ‘East Coast, West Coast’ and ‘I’ve Got The Rock And Rolls Again’.
In 1986 Charlie, along with Dave Hull (Joe Perry Project) and John “Muzz” Muzzy, formed FARRENHEIT and released a self-titled debut album on Warner Brothers. Three singles from that album, ‘Fool in Love’, ‘Bad Habit’, and ‘Lost in Loveland’, as well as video exposure on MTV, established FARRENHEIT as one of the premier new rock acts and receiving awards, media attention and new fans across the country.

“We signed with Warner Brothers in ’85 on the strength of our songwriting and performance”, explains Farren. “We were signed at a time when bands like Tears For Fears, Mister Mister, and U2 were breaking out. FARRENHEIT really never fit with the big hair and tattoo crowd that emerged shortly after our ‘FARRENHEIT’ CD came out in 1987. It probably was why we weren’t more successful as an ’80s’ band, why that CD still sounds fresh, and why the songs still work.”
Released in 1999, ‘Deja Blue’ established the Farren brand in earnest, this through masterful songwriting, soulful vocals and keen instincts for musical re-invention. Charlie subsequently released ‘World Gone Wild’, ‘Four Letter Word’, and ‘Live at Club Passim’ as a solo artist, along with a new live FARRENHEIT CD ‘FARRENHEIT Live at The Roxy – Boston MA’.
Farren’s newest release, a DVD and CD double set, ‘CHARLIE FARREN: retrospective – Live at The Regent Theatre’ is a tour-de-force and exhibits sophistication and musical depth most recording artists never achieve. Inspired electric and what is now Farren’s trademark acoustic/jazz and chart topping easy listening/pop performances on the DVD set abound, but it’s that voice, that exquisitely soulful voice which confirms Charlie Farren as one of the world’s most easily identifiable and gifted singer/ songwriters.

Dave DonderoL David Dondero

“David Dondero named 10th best songwriter of all time by NPR”.

#10. David Dondero: This guy is barely a blip on maps to even the remotest of musical landscapes. But I keep pushing him and hoping he’ll be recognized for the brilliant artist he is. Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst is often cited as one of the best songwriters making music today, and he’s credited David Dondero for his whole sound. (Dondero’s latest CD South of the South was released on Oberst’s Team Love label). The title track to South of the South (audio) isn’t his best song, but it’s a great example of the strange narratives he weaves.

David Dondero (born June 24, 1969 in Duluth, Minnesota, United States) is an American songwriter, guitarist, former lead singer of the band Sunbrain and former drummer for This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb. In 2006, NPR’s All Songs Considered named David one of the “best living songwriters” alongside Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney and Tom Waits.[1] Dondero started his musical career on drums at the age of 10, due in part to the fact that he “was always drumming on stuff with my hands”.[2] Dondero released four records with the Clemson, SC-based punk/hardcore band Sunbrain (three on Grass Records and one on Ghostmeat Records), before breaking up in 1995. The following year, Dondero joined This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb for nearly two years as their drummer. He left in 1998 to focus on his solo material. He has since released seven solo albums – two with Ghostmeat Records, three with [Future Farmer Records]] and the most recent two with Team Love Records. His eighth album, titled # Zero with a Bullet, will be released on August 3rd, 2010. Dondero has toured with such acts as Crooked Fingers, Jolie Holland, Against Me!, The Mountain Goats, David Bazan, Preston School Of Industry, Bright Eyes, Tilly and the Wall, Spoon, and Willy Mason. Dondero currently resides in Austin, TX.

“Margaret Glaspy serenaded the crowd with a smoky voice drifting somewhere between Regina Spektor and Kate Nash. The music – jazz turned Americana – was tight, and fit complex grooves unexpectedly under the nylon guitar strumming Margaret laid behind her voice.” -Garrett Frierson of Performer Magazine
