Written on December 31st, 2010 by George L. Tibbetts Jr.no shouts

Thank you to our arts family—you—who made this one of the best years for the Kennebec Valley Art Association and the Harlow Gallery. We have successfully brought you more programming and more spectacular art to view year round. Many of you have already donated in response to our year-end appeal, but for those of you who are still deciding about year-end donations this week, please remember that arts are fundamental to our community and to our families. We need you to join with us in making the Harlow a center for some of the most interesting art and cultural events in central Maine.

With the huge storm that came through first I would like to thank the city employees for working hard at digging us all out. I arrived home from my trip home to Michigan at the tail end of the storm and was pretty surprised to see all of the snow that fell. I would like to wish everyone one a safe and happy new year and hope to see you out at one of the local restaurants or pubs Friday night.

Beautifully animated and featuring the voices of Christopher Plummer, the late Lynn Redgrave, and Isabella Rossellini, My Dog Tulip is a bittersweet retrospective account of author J. R. Ackerley’s 16-year relationship with his adopted Alsatian, Tulip.

Brook trout on the Allagash Wilderness Waterway (AWW) headwater lakes usually bite fast and furious during the first few weeks of the ice fishing season. The first year that I came back to the waterway after spending 20-plus years on the Penobscot River Corridor, I was amazed at the quality of the trout fishing, especially when the season first opened.
