Juanito Pasqual Flamenco Quartet at One Longfellow Square on February 26th

Guitarist Juanito Pascual has been called “one of the hottest flamenco guitarists in recent years” by National Public Radio, which in Pascual’s case is just the jumping off point for the Minneapolis native’s musical vision. Pascual’s sound is a truly organic blend of a mastery of traditional and contemporary flamenco with his love of heroes ranging from Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis, to the Grateful Dead and J.S. Bach.

Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center announces a great winter/spring season of musical and theatrical shows, presented at 280 Water Street in Gardiner. On Saturday, February 12, take your Valentine to The Molenes, who play alt-country, roots-rock, and rockabilly, or simply “rock ‘n’ roll with twang.” Their original blend of guitar-driven American music will start at 7:30 pm. The show is supported by Kannon Communications. On Saturday, March 19th at 7:30PM Johnson Hall presents Dave Gutter, solo.

Gardiner’s City Manager Scott Morelli Posts Weekly Memorandum For January 28th

Congratulations to the Fire Department for securing two grants recently that require no City match! These grants, totaling nearly $50,000 from the Maine Emergency Management Agency, will allow for a new generator for Gardiner’s emergency shelter and for a replacement communications tower behind the fire station.

Come to the library and enjoy a little warmth on us! Join us on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 2:30PM in our beautiful Hazzard Reading Room for our fifth week of Theater Thursdays at the library. We will be screening Resurrection starring Ellen Burstyn and Sam Shepard. It is the story of Edna McCauly (Ellen Burstyn) who almost dies in a car accident and her husband isn’t quite so lucky.

Call for Artists 16th Annual Juried Show at the Harlow Gallery is Going Green

The Kennebec Valley Art Association invites artist submissions to Art2011, the 16th annual juried show at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell. Art2011 is open to all Maine artists and to any artist with a strong connection to Maine. Original fine art in any media may be submitted, including hand pulled prints, photography, and sculpture. Crafts are not eligible. Each artist may submit digital images of up to three works of art.

Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands Partners with Maine Trail Finder for State Trail Information

A partnership between a free-to-use, online trails portal and the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands is allowing users to find non-motorized state trails in Maine more easily and trail managers to monitor use and report conditions. Expected to be an important tool for tourism, recreation, health organizations and local economies, the descriptive trails website – Maine Trails Finder – already lists state trails for both parks and public lands in Franklin, Washington and Cumberland counties.
