BDA Silent Auction – December 1st Held from 5-7 pm in the Reading Room at the Curtis Memorial Library, this fundraiser supports the BDA’s efforts to assist with improvement projects, public programs, and special events in Downtown Brunswick.
The Augusta Food Bank invites you to the Red Barn to enjoy a delicious meal, and help a great cause all at the same time! Chicken & haddock snacks (including fries, of course) will be available, for the suggested donation of $5 per person! What a bargain! Please bring a non-perishable food item (cereals, soups, canned fruits & peanut butter are really needed!)
One thing you quickly realize when you sit down to watch The Way: Martin Sheen is a very compelling actor. Another thing you realize more slowly as the film goes along: His oldest son, Emilio Estevez, is a very sensitive director.
On Thursday, December 8th at 6:30 pm, the public is invited to a presentation on a photography project by Michael Kolster of Brunswick entitled “ A River Lost and Found: The Androscoggin River in Time and Place”. The presentation will take place at the Harlow Gallery at 160 Water Street in Hallowell. Kolster’s work explores how we perceive, depict, and come to understand the changing nature of river ways as they recover from a century of industrial pollution.
Governor Paul LePage today announced a major reorganization of Maine Revenue Services, separating policy responsibilities from operational management. “This reorganization will help ensure firm, fair, and consistent application of Maine’s tax laws,” said Governor LePage. “I want to thank Commissioner Millett and his team for putting this together.”
Just Us returns to the Center for their annual Christmas Show. Get into the holiday spirit with The “JUST US” Entertainers Christmas Show. Performing in the Lewiston/Auburn area since 1999, “JUST US” is an eclectic group of families and friends who enjoy harmonizing their way into your heart. Singing in English, Scottish Gaelic and Irish, Lewis MacKinnon has performed in coffee shops, pubs, convention centres, theatres and concert halls throughout Eastern Canada since 1994. Born in Cape Breton and raised in Antigonish County Nova Scotia, MacKinnon has played in every Atlantic Canadian Province, Ontario and in both Scotland and Ireland. In the fall of 2007 he was a featured performer at the Féile Ámhranaíochta (The Irish Song Festival in Belfast) and also in the internationally acclaimed Celtic Colours Festival, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
John Hodge’s blistering new play COLLABORATORS will be broadcast live from London’s prestigious National Theatre to The Strand. Set in 1938 Moscow, Collaborators depicts a lethal game of cat and mouse between writer Mikhail Bulgakov and powerful Joseph Stalin. Through their relationship, the appalling compromises and humiliations inflicted on artists by those with power are held up to scrutiny.

Russell Scott, who is retiring at the end of December, comes from a long line of dedicated park employees. His grandfather, Helon Taylor, was hand-picked by Gov. Percival Baxter as the first supervisor of Baxter State Park. His father was Myrle Scott, who managed several parks and is a past supervisor of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.
Paying homage to the Ambassador of Peace once again. Come celebrate a man who has greatly influenced the way we hear and love music today..performed by musicians who respect and have grown from his teachings lyrically and musically. This show does not happen often…and should not be missed.
