The Waterville Area Art Society and Waterville Main Street are proudly co-presenting the 2012 Maine Open Juried Art Show at the spectacular, newly-renovated Waterville Public Library in Downtown Waterville. Now entering its 22nd year, the Maine Open Juried Art Show attracts over 80 artists representing over 50 Maine communities and a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and other media. The City’s Economic Development department has been working to market the City and to promote our Libby Hill Business Park. One of these efforts is placing advertisements in Mainebiz magazine starting with the Feb. 20th issue and running for nine more (see photo below). Ads will also include promotion of the downtown and waterfront during tourism season. Thanks to or Economic Development Director Nate Rudy for these renewed marketing efforts which we hope, combined with our others efforts, will bear fruit for our business park and our community in the not too distant future
Two months ago my Administration warned Legislators that the State was fast approaching a massive deficit. My Administration, in particular Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Mary Mayhew and her staff, has accommodated every request of the legislature being as transparent as possible throughout this process. Unfortunately, many are losing focus as to why we are at a crossroads.
The next PechaKucha Night will be on February 17th, at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) in Rockport. Doors open at 6:30 and the presentations start promptly at 7. It is first come first served. We encourage you to stay after to have more “chit chat” with the presenters at our after party at CMCA with wine/beer and appetizers.
Started in 2003 by Klein Dytham Architects, Pecha Kucha (pronounced peh-chak-cha) Night is an opportunity for designers of all stripes to present their work. We welcome a broad mix of participants to present their designs, thoughts and ideas in a format of 20 slides x 20 seconds each.
The Snow Bowl is offering a deal on lift tickets for residents of Knox, Waldo, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Penobscot, Hancock and Kennebec counties. During weeknights, the discounted tickets will be $10 from 3 to 8 p.m. During the weekend days, the discounted tickets will be $20 for a full-day lift ticket.
