Sam and Bella Spewak wrote this gleefully wicked Christmas comedy, set in French Guiana, a region where on Christmas day the temperature has graciously dropped to 104 degrees. Three convicted prisoners on work-release help the Ducotel family with their struggling general store. Three convicts are employed as roofers by a family (Felix Ducotel, his wife Emilie and daughter Marie-Louise), whose roof is in desperate need of maintenance. On the way from France is evil-minded cousin Henri, to oust Felix from his business, and his cold-blooded nephew Paul, who is jilting the father’s daughter for an heiress.
