On Wednesday, March 21st the Red Barn restaurant in Augusta will be welcoming KVHS for a special evening from 5-8. Please stop by and get something delicious to eat and help KVHS earn a little cash! Thank you to the Red Barn for being such animal lovers!
ALL proceeds from the sale of our chicken and haddock snacks at our Augusta location will be donated to Gardiner’s Project graduation fund. For just $5.00 you can have dinner and support this wonderful program which enables high school students to celebrate a major milestone in their lives!
This Saturday from 5 – close, Management Team Jennifer McMahon & Jacqueline Barnicoat are stepping behind the bar to pour Irish margaritas and $3 Harpoon IPA pints for all attendees!! Exclusive to Rooster’s for this weekend only we will be serving Rogue Irish Lager, a tasty and festive brew! Green beer and Guinness will also be on the menu!! All tips will be donated to Hope’s Place, a local foundation for children.

As you know, The Red Barn is generously donating all the proceeds from the March raffle to help offset the cost of materials to build a screened in porch attached to Laurie’s house. Please join us on Wednesday to support Laurie by buying lots of raffle tickets and to support Laura and The Red Barn, who continously give back to the community, by enjoying a delicious Red Barn meal.
The Opus One Big Band, which is under the direction of Dale Perkins and features some of the finest big band musicians in central Maine, will perform a concert to benefit Cumston Hall and the Monmouth Academy Band music program on Saturday, March 10th, 7:30 p.m. The experience of hearing a big band in one of Central Maine’s most historic theaters will delight those who remember of good old days of big band music, and will introduce newcomers to this unique brand of music performance that is seldom available live.
A benefit event has been scheduled for Rochelle Spencer that will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at The Augusta Elks Lodge. The goal is to help Rochelle with expenses since she was seriously injured in a fall on January 9th that resulted in Rochelle breaking her neck. Please pray for Rochelle’s recovery and give what you can to assist her with financial set backs that she has incurred as a result.
On March 2, the Ian Parker Foundation will be hosting their first annual Winter Ball Fundraising event at Governor Hill Mansion in Augusta from 8 p.m. to midnight. Parker died unexpectedly about a year ago and his death prompted several people in the area to start a foundation in his name. “We scheduled this event right around the one year anniversary of our loss of Ian. We want people to come together in his name to help support a great cause,” said Vice Chairman Teresa Zardus.
Every three years, the Maine Commission for Community Service issues a call for proposals from regional, county, and community organizations that want to use AmeriCorps volunteers to tackle local problems. The announcement of the competition was issued recently and organizations have until April 26, 2012, to design a program and submit the application.
The St. Francis Pet Pantry will officially open on Sunday, February 12, 2012 with a blessing of the donations and a blessing for the donors at the 10:00 AM service. A reception will follow the service during the parish coffee hour.
The Help Heat Homes Initiative will be hosting a Big Band Ball fundraiser for heating assistance.
