AUGUSTA, Maine – National bestselling mystery author Gerry Boyle returns to Lithgow Public Library’s ever-popular Mystery Month with a reading and book signing on Thursday, October 20. “Death Be Not Loud” features a slate of four exciting Maine crime authors. In addition to Boyle, the line-up has included James Hayman and Dorothy Cannell; Paul Doiron will give a talk on Wednesday, October 26.

All Mystery Month programs are free and open to the public, and will take place in the library’s Reading Room at 6:30 p.m. There will be an opportunity to purchase books at the programs.

With the September release of Port City Black and White, the second book in his acclaimed Brandon Blake series, the Boyle now has two popular mystery series. In Port City Shakedown the veteran crime writer introduced Brandon Blake, who lives alone aboard an old cabin cruiser and runs a ramshackle boatyard in Portland. The Maine Sunday Telegram called Port City Shakedown “one of the best mysteries to come out of the state in recent years, and Beth Kanell of Kingdom Books said that “the Brandon Blake Port City series will be a classic, showing the reality of New England coast life a mix of myth and painful reality.”

Aside from his Portland-based Brandon Blake series, the China resident draws on his own experiences as a reporter when writing about journalist/sleuth Jack McMorrow. The McMorrow series, which includes Cover Story, Lifeline, and his newest novel, Damaged Goods, has long been a favorite of crime enthusiasts.

More information about Boyle and his books can found on the author’s website: www.gerryboyle.com

Lithgow Library is located at 45 Winthrop Street in Augusta. For more information about the program, call the library at 626-2415 or visit Lithgow’s website at www.lithgow.lib.me.us.
