Main Street Bath is a “grass-roots” organization, but volunteer efforts in the past week have been all about the flowers. The Design Committee’s “yard” sale at the visitors information center during Mayfair raised over $500 to help fund the downtown flower baskets for this summer. Then on Monday, members of the Morse High School freshman class joined us for the annual Buzzy Fitzgerald Community Service Day to pack up the left-over tag sale items for donating and help with landscaping the garden at the visitor center’s south end.

Bath is truly blooming these days. A special pleasure for me is the view of the small garden outside the window of my office in the Bath train station building. This is also the sight that greets people as they first approach the downtown from Route 1 N. or enter the Visitor Information Center parking. Thanks to the combined efforts of the City of Bath, the Bath Garden Club and Main Street Bath Design Committee members, it offers a bright welcome with a colorful bed of flowering bulbs and shrubs, with special thanks to Greg Moyer and Tom York for their landscaping work this spring.
