Bay Chamber invites the local community to experience the joy of music and support your friends and neighbors at the Odeon Youth Orchestras Spring concert on Sunday, May 20 at the Rockport Opera House at 4:00 p.m. for the Allegro, Symphony, and Chamber ensembles, and on Tuesday, May 22 at John Street Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m. for the Adult ensemble. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

Carl Orff’s monumental 1937 Carmina Burana became famous overnight for its melding of Greek tragedy, Italian musical theater and infectious rhythms to produce a stage spectacle of spring merry-making. Down East Singers joins forces with noted soloists (including MPBN’s Suzanne Nance, tenor Daniel C. Stein, and baritone Andrew Garland), and instrumentalists (including pianists Sean Fleming and Jennifer McIvor) in a thrilling salute to the spring season.

Bay Chamber’s Odeon Holiday Concert, with conductor Deidre McClure and artistic directors Gilda Joffe and Mike Reynolds will take place December 11, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at the Rockport Opera House. This annual concert features all four Odeon ensembles: Junior, Symphony, Chamber and Adult. A concerto for cello and string orchestra by Astor Piazzolla featuring renowned musician Marc Johnson and works by Foote, Ives, and others fills out the program.
The Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce presents the 32nd Annual Festival of Lights Craft Fair. The show will be held on Saturday, November 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Samoset Resort in Rockport. The admission charge is $3.00 per person. There is no charge for children under 12. The Knox County Ballroom and the State of Maine Hall will be filled with more than 50 unique artisans, gifts and craftspeople selling authentic Maine Made items.
