Various heart health events with take place throughout the morning such as with sponsor Inland Hospital who will have their Wheel of Wellness and provide blood pressure checks; a presentation by Women Heart Representative, and heart attack survivor, Denise Sullivan; Shaw’s team members will speak about and provide choices for heart healthy meals; Wii demonstrations; free give-a-ways and door prizes while supplies last; and more.
Spectrum Generations Cohen Community Center and AARP will offer a Safety Driver Course on Monday, February 13, 2012 from 10:00AM to 3:00PM with a snow date set for Friday, February 17th. This program is a refresher course for drivers age 55 and older. Those completing the program will receive a Certificate of Completion which may offer participants a discount on their auto insurance
Spectrum Generations is once again collaborating with AARP to offer tax preparation services at its community centers throughout Central Maine. This free service is open to any member of the community for support with personal income taxes now through mid-April. Appointments are required for all locations, and fill up fast. For those interested in scheduling an appointment, contact Spectrum Generations at 1-800-639-1553 or the community center closest to you.

Waterville Rotary Club President Don Plourde, presented a $10,000 check to Gerry Queally, CEO and Denver Brown, Nutrition Director at Spectrum Generations. The donation, which was presented at the Rotary Club’s weekly meeting, will support the agency’s Meal On Wheels and We Sustain Maine program
There are reports from Maine seniors who have received phone calls claiming to be from Medicare or from the ‘health office.’ The callers ask for the Mainer by name and appear to be offering seniors some sort of supplemental health insurance or prescription coverage.
Spectrum Generations Somerset is seeking volunteer drivers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors starting immediately. Drivers are needed for Hartland, Skowhegan, Norridgewock, Anson and Madison routes. Recipients of Meals on Wheels (homebound seniors and disabled adults) are in jeopardy of going hungry if meals are not delivered.
Due to its popularity, two sessions of the Savvy Caregiver Program are being offered at Spectrum Generations Muskie Center located at 38 Gold Street in Waterville. The dates for the first training are Mondays beginning January 23rd through March 5th from 1 to 3 in the afternoon. The second training will begin on March 19th and end on April 26th, also from 1 to 3 in the afternoon. There is no cost to attend.

This informational presentation will teach you about the various tools and supplies needed for backups such as flash drives, portable hard drives, DVD disks, etc. In the event of data loss or a computer crash, this can help you get your computer back up and running faster and restore your precious photos and important data. Class will be on Fri., Jan. 20 at 12:30. Cost is $3.00 per person.

Spectrum Generations is pleased to welcome Rachel McAllian to its Bridges Help at Home family as a Personal Services Supervisor. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management from Husson University and previously worked at the MaineCare Pharmacy Help Desk. Rachel has volunteered for the Red Cross and was involved with organizing relief packages going to Haiti.
Come enjoy a delicious breakfast for a good cause before work or school on Friday, December 16th between 7:30-9:30AM at Spectrum Generations Muskie Community Center, 38 Gold Street in Waterville. The all you can eat Jingle Bell Breakfast will consist of made-to-order omelets, sausage, bacon, freshly baked muffins and more.
