The Detroit Lions may have built their first roster of 53, but general manager Brad Holmes and coach Dan Campbell are far from finished maneuvering their player this week.
The Lions are currently second priority on the waiver and Campbell indicated earlier this week that they have no intention of wasting that opportunity.
“We’re looking,” Campbell said Monday. “Wherever we feel we can upgrade as we are two on the claim list, we are looking. Brad, we were just discussing it there, we’re looking everywhere.’
Wednesday afternoon at noon, the Lions — along with every other NFL team — must file a claim for one of the players who have been waived in recent days. Once that deadline has passed, teams will be notified if they have gotten one of those players and will have a few hours to make a corresponding move.
At the exact same deadline, teams will then be eligible to replenish their 16-player practice roster with players who have not been claimed or who are otherwise free agents.
In other words, around noon ET, we can expect to hear about the Lions’ claims, the status of players the Lions have relinquished, and the Detroit practice squad applications.
We’re following it all here on this update post.
While we wait for the news to come in, you can catch up on all the waivers and practice the squad rules you need to know.
