An 8-year-old boy is in a Boston hospital after he was hit by a vehicle leaving the accident site in Yarmouth, Massachusetts, according to police. Police in the city of Cape Cod said the accident happened shortly before 9:45 a.m. am on Higgins Crowell Road Saturday. The collision occurred north of Abells Road near the Professional Building Complex. According to police, the boy was riding a scooter when he was hit by a vehicle that did not stop after the crash. That vehicle reportedly continued south on Higgins Crowell Road toward Route 28. Two bystanders provided first aid to the boy when officers arrived on the scene. The Yarmouth Fire Department treated the boy for serious injuries and transported him to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, where he was then put on a medical helicopter and flown to a Boston hospital, police said. his two siblings and his grandmother at the time of the accident. Witnesses told police that the vehicle involved in the accident was a gray SUV, possibly a Mercedes-Benz. The vehicle reportedly has damage to the front passenger side and may be missing part of the headlight lens cap. The crash is being investigated by Yarmouth Police Department, the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Reconstruction Team.
