On Friday, a Pennsylvania anti-vaxxer, enraged by the FBI’s search for Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, vowed to kill as many federal agents as possible before they caught him.
“Come and get me your piece of shit feds,” he wrote on social media. “I’m going to fucking butcher you.”
On Monday, 46-year-old Adam Bies was instead in handcuffs.
The self-proclaimed “UX design leader, marketing ace, adventure photographer and storyteller” began posting violent threats “in the days following the FBI search for former President Donald Trump’s Florida home on Aug. 8, 2022,” according to an indictment released Monday in the federal court of Pittsburgh.
“Every piece of shit that works for the FBI in any capacity, from the director to the janitor cleaning their damn toilets, deserves to die,” Bies posted Aug. 10 on the far-right social network Gab, under the screen name “BlankFocus.” “You declared war on us and now it’s open season for YOU.” In another post that day, Bies reportedly wrote, “HEY FEDS. We the people cannot WAIT to water the trees of liberty with your blood. I’m waiting for you to kick in my door.”
On August 11, the Social Media Exploitation Team of the FBI’s National Threat Operations Section received a tip from a nonprofit about BlankFocus. The group was alarmed by a message that read: “I already know I’m going to die at the hands of these fucking kids who harass law enforcement,” the indictment said. “My only goal is to kill more of them before I drop. I will not spend a second of my life in their custody.”
Another warned: “I honestly believe that if you work for the FBI, you deserve to DIE.”
The FBI immediately subpoenaed Gab for the subscriber information associated with the account, which was linked to the email address “[email protected]” But a chat log Gab provided to the FBI cleared up any doubt that this was an alias used by Bies, the indictment said.
“I’m using a fake name for my photography and Gab so corporate Murica’ can’t google me out of a job,” Bies naively said in a conversation, according to the indictment.
In other postings, Bies compared US federal agents to Nazi SS officers and members of the KGB, the indictment said. A few days before his arrest, the FBI says Bies taunted Gab’s CEO Andrew Torba by tagging him in a post that read, “It’s okay that the government constantly tells you they plan to kill you, but if we decide we’ve had enough and tell them we’re going to butcher THEM, you’ll be banned from [email protected] [Andrew Torba] go ahead and ban me, you bastard,” adding, “@a just gave me an account warning for telling me to put down a bunch of child molesters at the FBI.”
In addition to the chat logs, Gab gave the investigators the IP addresses used to log into the account, which led agents straight to Bies’ front door in Mercer, Pennsylvania. Monday to a cell phone under his name went straight to voicemail. But he left an extensive trail of digital breadcrumbs online, both under his own name and under his nom de guerre, which provide some insight into his recent state of mind.
“I threw away my 25-year career in software and marketing after refusing the vaccine, to pursue a career as an internet troll funded by my own art,” Bies’ now-deleted Gab profile said, while printing of his photos. “Why spend $500 dollars on a Hunter Biden crack pipe doodle when you can buy REAL ART for $20 and up?
The Daily Beast reviewed Bies’ other posts, such as BlankFocus, before his account was deleted Monday afternoon.
“I’ve lost over 100 followers today because I think the FBI is a bunch of assholes, child molesters who deserve to be shot on the spot,” said one. “Clean up motherfuckers. Go hang out where you belong, with the fucking Chamber of Commerce Mitch McConnell molesting RINO bastards instead. Hopefully next time YOUR kids will be on the menu at the new hell that replaced Epstein Island.”
In another he wrote: “I will never treat you rogue Democrats with respect, or be friends with you in any way for the rest of my life. I can’t wait to see all of you stupid pieces of shit drop dead from the side effects of your vaccine.
A website called Adam Kenneth Campbell, which is linked to Bies’ Gab account and uses the alias the FBI says Bies used, contains a lengthy diatribe about what “Campbell” wants from life.
“I’m not going to photograph your wedding,” it reads. “If you’ve gotten this far into my story, do you think I’d be the right man to have in the room while an angry Bridezilla throws a tantrum on her wedding day? I’m not interested in shooting events unless I’m at the event myself.”
He also protests against expat workers in American companies, claiming that he has seen “tons of American workers lose their jobs to foreigners.”
Despite all Bies’ support for Trump after the search for Mar-a-Lago, he was not necessarily so enamored with him in the past.
“On the day after his ouster, the leader of the free world took the time to grab the women by the pussy, interrupt Sesame Street and let the little kids know ‘It was all BULLSHIT!'” he wrote in a caption. GIF of Trump and 2020 rival Hillary Clinton. “Believe me, people always say to me, ‘Adam, don’t go around sharing your political views or you’ll lose half your customers.’ Half you say? Why not just get rid of all my potential clients by saying that if you really support one of these bastards, you’re part of the problem in our country. Of the 330 million people to choose from, these 2 retards are the best we could think of?”
On one of his other sites, Bies says he’s “been in the creative business for over 25 years,” listing various projects, such as serving as chief user experience designer for PNC Bank in 2019.
“The experience has shown me that I don’t thrive in big, beaurucratic [sic] organizations,” Bies wrote.
Bies’s arrest comes amid a vociferous campaign by the twice-indicted Trump to discredit the FBI in the wake of the agency’s court-approved search for classified documents. Last week, a gunman angry over the raid tried to break through the FBI’s Cincinnati Field Office before dying in a gunfight with police. The FBI now sees an “unprecedented” number of threats, according to CNN.
Federal prosecutors have asked for Bies to be detained pending trial. He is charged with influencing, hindering or retaliating against federal law enforcement officers.
