Date:

Phoenix Police Department responded to campaign headquarters for Kari Lake, Arizona’s Republican governor candidate, after “suspicious items were found in the mail.”

A Phoenix Police Department spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that officers “responded to a call for property found in an office building near 40th Street and Camelback Road.”

“When officers arrived, they discovered suspicious items in the mail,” said Phoenix Police Chief. Phil Krynsky wrote via email. “Additional resources have been deployed to collect the items and secure the area. There are no reports of injuries and the investigation remains active.”

According to reports, a white powdery substance was found in packages sent to Lake’s office.

Initially, reports said FBI agents and Phoenix police officers arrived at the scene in dangerous suits.

This comes days before Lake, a former local news anchor turned fervent critic of the press, will face Democratic opponent Katie Hobbs in the race for Arizona governor on Tuesday. Last week, police responded to a reported break-in at Hobbs’ campaign headquarters in Phoenix. Hobbs initially blamed Lake’s rhetoric.
