Some notes

  • For the Chiefs, the only player with a Sunday game designation is tight end Jody Fortson, who missed all of this week’s practice with a quad injury. He has been declared from in front of Football on Sunday evening.
  • With Blake Bell still on injured reserve, the team now has just two tight ends available for Sunday’s game: Travis Kelce and sophomore player Noah Gray. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Jordan Franks, the practice squad tight end, is raised for the game.
  • As a reminder: Although offensive lineman Lucas Niang (knee) returned to practice on Wednesday, he will not appear on the injury report as he is not officially on the roster. He remains on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list (more on his early progress here).
  • The rest of the news on the Kansas City injury report is excellent. Every player listed for treatment this week is a full participant in both of the latter two practices.
  • The news for the Titans is not so good. Two players are listed from for the week 9 game in Kansas City: fullback Tory Carter (neck) and safety Amani Hooker (shoulder). Both missed all of this week’s training sessions. Andrew Adams will start in place of Hooker.
  • Of greater interest to Tennessee fans, however, are the four players listed as: questionable for the game: starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill (ankle), defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons (ankle), outside linebacker Bud Dupree (illness), and defensive lineman Kevin Strong (ankle).
  • After being kept out of Thursday’s practice, Tannehill was… limited on Friday. He is reportedly a gametime decision. When not playing, rookie quarterback Malik Willis gets his second start.
  • Simmons is an important part of the Titans’ strong defense line. SBNation’s Titans site Wonders of the Music City expect Simmons to play – despite missing all three practice sessions this week. This would be a way to manage his playing time. As head coach Andy Reid might say: we’ll just have to see. It sure looks like Simmons mouth is working just fine.
  • Dupree is another key player in the Titans’ defense. But having only missed Friday’s practice due to an illness, he will likely face the Chiefs.
  • On Friday, Strong did not participate in practice after having been limited on Wednesday and Thursday. That suggests he may not be playing in Kansas City.
  • As expected, running back Derrick Henry (NIR/half time) and defensive tackle Naquan Jones (illness) both returned to full exercise after being exploited on Thursday. Nose equipment Teair Tart (hamstring) was limited on Thursday, but had plenty of practice on Friday. None of them have injury status, so we can expect them all to play against the Chiefs.
  • Four players were relegated to limited On Friday: Center Ben Jones (no injury), offensive lineman Aaron Brewer (toe), defensive lineman Sam Okuayinonu (knee), and outer linebacker Rashad Weaver (back). None of them carry an injury designation; everyone should be expected to play.
