CNET’s Editors’ Choice Awards: The Best Products and Services for 2023

For more than two decades, CNET editors have poked, poked, tested, retested, deliberately dropped, and even stayed up all night to review the new products and services that promise to change the way we live and work.

Our new Editors’ Choice badge.

In 2022, our team of experts identified 81 products and services across seven categories that we believe are worth celebrating and – most importantly – worthy of being honored with a CNET Editors’ Choice Award.

From the smartphones, laptops and tablets we use every day to stay connected to the routers, monitors and other essential equipment that make our digital ecosystems work, we continue to rely on technology to ensure we communicate and collaborate as easily and effective as we can.

We’ve also done a deep dive to find the best TVs, Bluetooth speakers, kitchen appliances, robot vacuum cleaners, software and online services including VPNs to keep your data private and language apps since many of you are traveling again.

The result of all that work has led to our picks for the CNET Editors’ Choice Awards, which we’re honoring this year with a new badge that we’ll use to identify those standouts in our reviews, best lists, product comparisons, and other stories on our site.

As always, our mission is to help you navigate our changing world, whether you’re looking for premium gear or more affordable options. And we support these choices with extensive tips, explanations and manuals. Keep in mind that these products and services have been evaluated in 2022 to help you decide what gear you want to add to your life in 2023.

One more note: In terms of innovation, 2022 has been a modest year overall, with the focus on developing products to make them better rather than blowing up new categories.

Still, we were pleased to find four products that we thought pushed the boundaries and were worthy of another CNET award: our Innovation Award, which recognizes technology that brings new and remarkable ideas to market. Check out our list below.

We are happy to continue the CNET tradition of rewarding products that offer the best combination of performance, design and value. We’d love to hear about your favourites, too. Find CNET on your favorite social media channel and tell us what you think.
