Fantasy Football Rankings 2022: Sleepers, breakouts, busts by top-rated model that nailed Taylor’s big season

Date:

Washington Commanders bringing back Antonio Gibson have struggled to gain momentum during the preseason, following a bold 2021 campaign. Gibson finished last year with 1,037 yards and 10 total touchdowns, but the coaching staff is disappointed with him this year. The third-year backup struggled with ball security and has been relegated to passing downs and special teams working in his preseason appearances so far, dropping him into the 2022 Fantasy football rankings. Meanwhile, rookie Brian Robinson has 14 carries and a touchdown in two preseason games. Your preparation for the 2022 Fantasy Football draft should consider Gibson’s problems and the forecast in which to include Robinson in the possible 2022 Fantasy Football outbreaks. Before setting up your 2022 Fantasy football draft strategy, you should prepare the 2022 Fantasy View football cheat sheets of the tried and true computer model at SportsLine.

Last year, the model accurately predicted that Colts running back Jonathan Taylor were dramatically undervalued. Taylor was drafted behind running backs like Aaron Jones, Ezekiel Elliott, and Austin Ekeler last season, but the SportsLine projection model predicted he would surpass all those backs and be a fixture in your Fantasy football lineups. The result: Taylor led the NFL with 1,811 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns to finish as the overall RB1 in 2021.

The same model has a proven track record of giving Fantasy Football tips, with AJ Brown also being identified as another sleeper in 2020 and players like Julio Jones and JuJu Smith-Schuster as Fantasy Football busts last season. In addition, it is called earlier Fantasy football sleepers such as Derrick Henry in 2019, Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara in 2018 and Davante Adams in 2017. Anyone who counted on such players made a run for their league title.

The model is powered by the same people who generated projections for all three major Fantasy sites, and it beat out human experts last season when there was a big difference in ranking. The projections are updated several times a day, so you always get the best Fantasy football advice.

Now SportsLine has simulated the entire NFL season 10,000 times and released its latest Fantasy Football Ranking 2022, along with tons of sleepers, pimples, and busts. Go to SportsLine now to see them.

Top 2022 Fantasy Football Sleepers

One of the 2022 Fantasy football sleepers the model predicts: Lions running back D’Andre Swift. Swift was a three-down back and led all RBs in receptions and goals last year before suffering a week 12 shoulder injury that cost him a month of action. He finished the year as the RB23, with a total of 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns, despite missing nearly five full games.

Projected over 17 games, Swift would have finished as the No. 6 RB in Fantasy points. He came to a bigger training camp to handle close range situations and he will still feast on Jared Goff’s check-downs. In 2022 Fantasy Football PPR rankings, Swift is in the RB1/RB2 margin, depending on the size of your league, and he is also tied to a top-15 decline in non-PPR leagues. Top 2022 Fantasy Football Breakouts

The model also projects Texans to roll back Dameon Pierce as one of the best 2022 Fantasy football breakouts. With just under two weeks left before the start of the regular season, no public mention has been made that Pierce will be the starting rider in Houston, but all indications are that he could be. Although Marlon Mack is listed as the starter on the depth chart, Pierce has proven to be the more dynamic and physical option in the backfield.

Pierce had five runs for 49 yards in his preseason debut against a tough defense by the New Orleans Saints and was a healthy scratch against the Los Angeles Rams the following week. Pierce could be one of the top 2022 Fantasy Football sleepers and 2022 Fantasy Football breakouts of the year at the same time, as he hasn’t been officially named a starter and many Texan players will be written off altogether. Still, Pierce’s advantage is that the model predicts him to finish better than others with a higher 2022 Fantasy Football ADP such as Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Elijah Mitchell, and Devin Singletary. Top 2022 Fantasy Football Busts

As for players to avoid, the Broncos Wide-Receiver model lists Courtland Sutton as one of the 2022 Fantasy football busts. Sutton had a solid sophomore campaign in 2019 when he averaged 13.8 PPR points per game. However, he sustained a torn ACL in 2020 and has yet to find his previous form.

Sutton showed flashes in 2021, scoring at least 23 PPR points in three of his first six games, but finished the season averaging just 8.8 PPR points per game. While the quarterback game will be more consistent with Russell Wilson in the middle, SportsLine’s model expects Sutton to fail to live up to his ADP in the sixth round. In fact, the model puts Gabriel Davis, Brandin Cooks and Marquise Brown, all of whom are selected on average in the eighth round, to outperform Sutton this season.
