For a day, movie tickets are just $3 in the vast majority of US theaters as part of a recently launched “National Cinema Day” to entice moviegoers during a quiet period at the box office. The Cinema Foundation, a non-profit arm of the National Theater Owners Association, has announced that Saturday, September 3, will be a discount day nationwide in more than 3,000 theaters and on more than 30,000 screens. Major chains, including AMC and Regal Cinemas, are participating, as are all major movie studios. In participating theaters, tickets are no more than $3 for any showing, in any format.
