How the Palace Feels About Meghan Markle’s Spotify Podcast

Meghan Markle’s New Spotify Podcast, archetypes, premiered this week, and — because of course, sigh — the palace is already spiraling. In particular about what can be shared in the rest of the series.

In a new report for Yahoo!royal expert and author Omid Scobie (who co-wrote the Sussexes biography) find freedom) said: “I’m told that Buckingham Palace’s assistants definitely did not keep calm nor carry on after the show’s premiere on Tuesday, concerned about what else might be shared in the next 12 weeks.”

If you listened to Meghan’s first archetypes episode, you know a lot of it consisted of a really interesting conversation between Meghan and Serena Williams, where Meghan talked about how her experience with the word “ambitious” changed when she started to challenge Harry.

“I can’t remember ever personally feeling the negative connotation behind the word ‘ambitious’ until I started dating my current husband,” Meghan explained during the chat. “And er, ambition is apparently, uh… a terrible, terrible thing, for a woman it is – according to some. So ever since I’ve felt the negativity behind it, it’s really hard to un-feel it. I can ‘ don’t see it in the millions of girls and women who regularly make themselves smaller – so much smaller -.”

The Duchess also spoke of a scary incident during the royal tour, when Archie’s nursery caught fire (luckily he wasn’t in the room at the time). Despite being understandably upset about what had happened, she had to go to another appointment.

“Of course, as a mother, you go, ‘Oh, my God, what?’ Everyone is in tears, everyone is shocked And what should we do? Go out and do another official assignment? I said, “This makes no sense. I was like, ‘Can you just tell people what happened? ?’ And so much, I think, optically. Ultimately, the focus is on what it looks like rather than how it feels. And part of humanizing and breaking through these labels and these archetypes and these boxes that we’re put in is the only thing understanding the human moments behind the scenes that people may not be aware of and to give each other a break.”

FYI, Meghan is speaking to Mariah Carey next week. Literally can’t wait.
