As of 11 a.m. Monday, Hurricane Ian will be located 240 miles southeast of Cuba’s western tip. It has maximum sustained winds of 80 mph and moves northwest at 13 mph.

Ian is expected to cause significant wind and storm surge effects in western Cuba.

The storm is expected to cross the Florida Keys on Tuesday and approach Florida’s west coast on Wednesday. Up to 6 inches of rain can fall in the Keys.

Tampa Bay could see about 8 feet of storm surge, NHC predicted.

Central and western Florida saw up to 15 inches of rain, while the rest of the peninsula saw 3 to 8 inches of rain. Tornadoes are possible across the Florida peninsula late Monday night and Tuesday. South Florida is threatened by severe storms on Tuesday and Wednesday.
