The New York Jets are hopeful that the organization has avoided the following worst-case scenario Zach Wilson’s Knee Injury in Friday night’s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Wilson, who was drafted by the Jets with the second overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, left The first game of the preseason in New York after injuring his right knee.
“Early indications” are that Wilson has re-injured his posterior cruciate ligament — he missed four games with a PCL injury in his rookie season — and may be missing just a few weeks, according to ESPN.
Head coach Robert Saleh told reporters after the game that Wilson will undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the severity of the injury, adding that Wilson’s ACL is “believed to be intact”.

“I’ll get the MRI worked out, and we’ll figure it out,” Saleh said Saturday.
Wilson hurt his knee in the first quarter after breaking out of the pocket and trying to push back the field during his scramble.

“Just get your ass off the track,” Saleh said after the game. “He got a little greedy, he wanted more. It’s new sod, so the turf wasn’t as firm as you’d like.’
The Jets are counting on Wilson to take the next step as he enters year two, with the Jets upgrading their offensive weaponry around Wilson in the off-season.

“It’s terrible. Not even just seeing your quarterback, but one of your brothers, in general, go down,” Sauce Gardner said of the first round after the game. “Because you know that in the end he gives everything. He wants to be with us.’

A major injury to Wilson would be a devastating start to the season for the Jets, who hope to make big strides in Saleh’s second season as head coach. New York has been hit with the injury bug early in the preseason, with Mekhi Becton out in the first round for the season with a serious injury.

“In the end, it sucks,” Saleh said on Tuesday. according to the New York Post“for lack of a better word. But nobody cares. You have to get up, get ready, the next man, all those stupid clichés in these moments.”
The Jets have veteran quarterback Joe Flacco and sophomore pro Mike White on the roster. Both players started appearances for the Jets during the 2021 season.
