EXCLUSIVE: Sex and the city fans can rejoice – Aidan Shaw by John Corbett shall reunite with former love Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) on HBO Max’s And just like that… I hear Corbett is ready for a substantial multi-episode arc in the second season of the Sex and the city follow-up, reprises his role as the sympathetic furniture maker. Representatives from HBO Max and Corbett declined to comment.
Aidan van Corbett was one of two notable Sex and the city Fan Favorite Characters Who Didn’t Appear in Season 1 of And just like that…, along with Kim Cattrall’s Samantha. While the iconic HBO series’ revival was heralded from the start to focus on Carrie (Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) with no plans for Cattrall involvement, fans waited until the final seconds of the season finale. for Aiden to show up after Corbett teased his entry, telling Page Six in April 2021, “I think I might be in quite a few [episodes].”
Parker, who also serves as an executive producer on And just like that…thought the stunt was funny.
“It was nice. It was nice for him to say that,” she continued Watch live what’s happening this past February. “When he actually got in touch with him, very kindly, because he’s nothing but a gentleman, and apologized for doing that as a joke, and then I thought, ‘No, no, no, it’s a free country.’ And I thought it was a bit delightful and fun.”
After the February finale, executive producer Michael Patrick King explained to Deadline why Aidan didn’t appear in the season, dealing with the aftermath of Carrie’s husband, Mr. Big (Chris Noth), who died at the end of the first episode.
“It just felt like this was a lot for Carrie,” he said. “This season was a lot. We wanted to get her through [Big’s death] and in the light – the last episode is called ‘Seeing the Light’. We wanted to get her out. [Aidan’s return] is a big storyline that everyone at home wrote that we never intended to.”
In the same February interview, Parker didn’t rule out a possible Corbett appearance for Season 2.
“I think he… I mean, I’m not going, yes, it’s all possible,” she said.
In the closing moments of the Season 1 season finale, Carrie kisses podcast producer Franklin (Ivan Hernandez), a sign that she’s ready to start dating again after a period of mourning.
Corbett portrayed Carrie Bradshaw’s (Parker) on-and-off boyfriend and later fiancé Aidan Shaw in seasons 3 and 4 of Sex and the city. They broke up twice, the first after she confessed to dating her future husband Mr. Big had slept, and the second time she couldn’t commit after Aidan proposed to her and the two got engaged.
Carrie and Aidan were repairing fences in Season 6 when they bumped into each other on the street, with Aidan revealing that he was married and had a young son. Fate brought them back together in the movie Sex and the city 2 at a market in Abu Dhabi. The pair shared a passionate kiss at a later dinner, but since both were married at the time (and Aidan also fathered three children), Carrie ran away. A reunion of Carrie and Aidan years later will probably have to deal with what happened to Aidan’s wife, Kathy.
Corbett returns as another beloved character in a romantic comedy franchise, Ian in the third My fat Greek wedding film, which has just completed production in Greece.
