Kingdom Hearts Dark Road Translated Tetsuya Nomura Q&A – Kingdom Hearts News

Question 1: In previous titles, we saw a different Young Xehanort than the one in the Destiny Islands video (seen in Birth through sleep)…is there an explanation for that?

Nomura: dark road shows the correct model. At the time of the production of [Birth by Sleep]the look of a young man was prepared, but the look of a boy was not due to budget constraints when it came to 3D modeling.

question 2: Will there be any patches? dark road after this?

Nomura: Yes. We’ve identified cases where the incorrect background is displayed during combat. We’ve also identified where the player with Xehanort’s cutscene isn’t displaying as it should during certain unique circumstances. I apologize for these bugs and we will release a patch for version 5.0.1 in the future to fix them.

question 3: The reason “Why did Xehanort go bald” was… frankly unexpected.

Nomura: Yes, it was not of great importance. I just wanted to clarify that he had “shaven” because I found it was misconstrued as a general theory that he had just lost his hair. Otherwise, it’s no big deal that the Queen of Hearts didn’t remember Xehanort. That’s just how she is.

Question 4: In dark road, several of the Emblem Heartless appear. But we thought they wouldn’t appear until later in the series.

Nomura: The reason for their appearance in these past worlds will be explained in Missing link.

Question 5: Who was the blue-clad figure featured in the epilogue of dark road?

Nomura: It’s the player. Or, to be more specific, it is the vessel where the player’s heart has begun its “second life”. Therefore, when someone disappears, it is not that they are completely gone. Rather, their hearts have been picked up by another person.

Question 6: Is the Scala ad Caelum in dark road and the one in it Missing link one and the same?

Nomura: Right. The reason there is such a difference in atmosphere is that Scala ad Caelum is positioned as a multi-tiered city, with a new city being built on top of the old one.

Question 7: Xehanort’s complete descent into the darkness was not fully explained, was it?

Nomura: There may have been some missing spots, but I believe I managed to capture the beginning of his entrance on the path of darkness very well.

Question 8: “Ooh, I really liked this classmate/upper classmate! Will he or she be in future stories?”

Nomura: Unfortunately, while I wish I could have explored their character development further, I wasn’t able to, otherwise the story would be insanely expanded. Most of the characters probably won’t appear in future stories, but if the opportunity arises, I’d love to portray them in other forms of media.

Question 9: Can you explain more about Master Odin’s line “Destiny is so cruel…”?

Nomura: Of course Master Odin also had a master to guide him. This master entrusted Odin with a mission that actually matches the identity of the individual dressed in blue.

Question 10: Xehanort appears with a figure that we assume is his mother. Is that… Skuld?

Nomura: That’s incorrect. However, she is somehow related to Skuld. The next title, Missing linkwill have “bloodlines” as one of the main points of the story.

Question 11: dark road reveals details of Xehanort’s lineage and bloodline, with some mentions of the “First Master’s Bloodline”, but what about Eraqus? Are the two blood relatives?

Nomura: My apologies. I cannot answer that, as will be explained in Missing link.

Question 12: Speaking of Missing linkcan you give more information about that?

Nomura: We are currently preparing for the closed beta test. Unfortunately I still can’t give a more precise time as to “when” it will happen, but there are plans to rename the Kingdom Hearts Union Cross [social media] bills in Missing link accounts so I urge you to follow them.

Question 13. Will Xehanort finally appear in future titles?

Nomura: Just because the “Dark Seeker’s Saga” is now over, doesn’t necessarily mean that Xehanort will never appear in future titles again. If the opportunity arises, then…
