Man arrested for murder of Jackson, NH woman, AG’s office says

A Jackson man has been charged with the murder of a 23-year-old woman who was shot last week, authorities said. Doucette, 23, from Jackson. Investigators said they were called to Dana Place Apartments on Route 16 in Jackson just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to reports of a gunshot wound. Officers found Doucette suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and she was transported critically injured to Memorial Hospital in North Conway. Doucette died two days later, on Friday, as a result of those injuries. An autopsy determined that Doucette’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the cause of death was manslaughter, the attorney general’s office said. On Friday, Jackson police said Mitchell was arrested on preliminary charges of first-degree assault (domestic violence) and domestic violence (involving a firearm). Police said there was no specific threat to the community on Friday. Mitchell is currently in police custody and will arraign on December 5 in Carroll County Superior Court.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s office said Brandon Mitchell was arrested and charged with second-degree murder for causing the death of Esmae Doucette, 23, of Jackson.

Investigators said they were called to Dana Place Apartments on Route 16 in Jackson just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to reports of a gunshot wound.

Officers found Doucette suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and she was transported to Memorial Hospital in North Conway with serious injuries.

Doucette died of those injuries two days later, on Friday.

An autopsy determined that Doucette’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the cause of death was manslaughter, the attorney general’s office said.

On Friday, Jackson police said Mitchell was arrested on preliminary charges of first-degree assault (domestic violence) and domestic violence (involving a firearm).

Police said there was no specific threat to the community on Friday.
