Capcom will release Monster Hunter Rise for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 20, 2023 for $39.99, the company announced. It will also be available through Xbox Game Pass for console, cloud, and PC. The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion will follow in spring 2023. Pre-orders are now available.

Here’s an overview of the game, via Capcom:

Monster Hunter Rise is the latest installment in the action RPG series and takes players to Kamura Village, a colorful and tranquil environment that attracts visitors with its unique culture and innovative hunting technologies. The main gameplay experience in Monster Hunter Rise remains true to the previous highly praised Monster Hunter submissions. Hunters must equip their armor and choose from one of 14 different weapon types to take on fearsome foes. As players defeat monsters and progress through the game, items carved from fallen enemies can be used to craft unique weapons and armor that increase their chances of survival. Hunters can take on these challenges alone, or with up to three other hunters in cooperative online play.

Monster Hunter Rise evolves the series by introducing several new and exciting mechanics for fighters to master. Wire-based grappling actions can be performed by using a “Wirebug” while standing or in the air, adding a whole new level of aerial maneuverability to hunting strategies and attacks. In addition, the game features the “Wyvern Riding” technique, which allows players to temporarily take control of a monster and deliver spectacular battle sequences during hunts. Monster Hunter Rise also introduces new hunting partners called Palamutes, personalized and rideable “Canyne” companions that give players new sets of attack options. The “Canyne” Palamute companions join the series’ favorite “Felyne” Palicos to help players on the hunt.

Monster Hunter Rise features customizable optimizations, allowing hunters to enjoy their journey in 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, while also providing 3D audio for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Remote and shielded weapons will also use Adaptive DualSense triggers on PlayStation 5. Monster Hunter Rise launches at a MSRP of $39.99 on January 20, 2023 and is now available for pre-purchase. The game will also arrive on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

After the debut of Monster Hunter Risecan players look forward to the release of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakthe monstrous expansion that will be available to home console players in Spring 2023.

Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion are currently available for Switch and PC via Steam.
