Mother arrested for murder after disappearance of Savannah toddler Quinton Simon

The Chatham County Police Department has announced that Leilani Simon, the mother of missing toddler Quinton Simon, has been charged with murder in the child’s death.

Update 6:02 PM: Police say they have found Quinton Simon’s remains.

Jeff Hadley, Chatham County Police Chief, said Leiliani Simon was arrested Monday afternoon and has been admitted to the Chatham County Detention Center.

In a series of tweets on Monday, CCPD said:

Chatham County Police have arrested and charged 22-year-old Leilani Simon with murder in connection with the disappearance and death of her son, 20-month-old Quinton Simon.

Leilani Simon reported her son missing from their home on October 5, 2022. Since then, millions of people have followed Quinton’s case and are waiting for answers.

We will release more details shortly and Chief Hadley will meet with the news media. However, we wanted to report this development to you without delay. We are deeply saddened by this case, but we are thankful that we are one step closer to justice for little Quinton.”

Leiliani Simon, 22, is charged with murder, concealing the death of another, falsely reporting a crime and false statements or writings concealing facts or fraudulent documents in government affairs.

Quinton was last seen at his home on October 5.
