NVIDIA CEO Confirms “Exciting New Next-Generation” GeForce RTX 40 GPUs Inbound, Unveil Hinted For Late September

During the earnings call for Q2 FY2023, NVIDIA’s CEO confirmed that their next-generation GPUs, the GeForce RTX 40 series, will be available soon.

NVIDIA CEO on Next-Gen GeForce RTX 40 GPUs Launch: “We Have an Exciting New Next Generation on the Way”, Announcement in September?

NVIDIA’s second quarter this year has been brutal, with gaming revenue dropping to 44% sequentially and 33% annually. You can read our finance team’s full earnings report here, but what we’re going to talk about is the fact that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has confirmed that their next-generation GPUs are coming in.

NVIDIA confirmed that the price adjustment on existing graphics cards was an attempt to get rid of excess inventory to make room for the next generation of products. Jensen states that the next generation of graphics cards and the GPU architecture will be really exciting, which you can read in the statement below:

Our strategy is to reduce sales — reduce sales this quarter, the next quarter to correct the channel inventory. Obviously we’re off the highs, and the macro condition got significantly worse. And so our first strategy to reduce sales in the coming quarters is to correct channel inventory. We have also established programs to price position our current products to prepare for the next generation of products.

Ampere is the most popular GPU we’ve ever made. It is in the top 15 most popular gaming GPUs on Steam. And it remains the best GPUs in the world, and it will be very successful for a while yet. However, we have an exciting new generation coming up and it will be layered on top of that. And so we’ve — we’ve done two things. We reduced the sale to allow channel inventory to be corrected and we have implemented programs with our partners to position the products in the channel in preparation for our next generation.

We expect all of this to work on a path to be in good shape next year. Okay? So that’s what our game plan is.

More importantly, Jensen has also hinted at us that we may hear more about the next-generation GPU architecture for gaming next month at GTC 2022. The next iteration of NVIDIA GTC will take place on September 19 and will run until September 22, while the CEO keynote is expected to take place on September 20.

In Gaming, our partners and ecosystem respond to a sudden slowdown in consumer demand and correct channel inventory. Still, the fundamentals of gaming are strong. We’ll get through this in the coming months and go into next year with our new architecture. I look forward to telling you more about it at GTC next month.

I’m looking forward to next month’s GTC conference where we’ll share new developments from RTX reinventing 3D graphics and gaming.

So it looks like we’re going to be revealing more or less an official next month in September. This certainly won’t be a launch event for the next-generation GeForce RTX 40 series lineup, but more of an announcement/reveal. We’re definitely looking forward to what NVIDIA has in store for the gaming community.
