AMD Radoen RX 7900 pictured next to much thicker RTX 40 GPUs
AMD RDNA3 desktop cards are now imaged and videotaped up close.
It’s time to check out your favorite YouTuber or website for a first showcase of the Radeon RX 7900 series. AMD just lifted the embargo on unwrapping content, meaning reviewers and influencers can now show their samples in detail. What they can’t show yet are their performance numbers or take the cards apart.
Most if not all makers received both the Radeon RX 7900 XT and Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPUs. This is a reminder that these cards are not identical, although they look very similar. For starters, the full Navi 31 GPU is slightly larger and has built-in RGB lighting. However, both cards have a two-slot design and they both have two 8-pin power connectors.

Thanks to these new photos, we now have confirmation that RX 7900 cards don’t use the same board design, but this wasn’t exactly a secret as the XTX card has a wider PCB. The RX 7900XT uses a D704 board, while the RX 7900 XTX is equipped with a D702 board. Once the full reviews are posted, we’ll get full details on the exact changes.
This is also the first time we’ve seen the Radeon RX 7900 series alongside GeForce RTX 40 GPUs. Some unboxing coverage focuses entirely on this topic. Radeon cards have a 2-slot design at most, which is obviously much thinner than RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 Founders Edition cards.

For those wondering where custom RDNA3 GPUs are, Overclock3D has you covered. They seem to be the only outlet that has showcased a custom XFX MERC 310 GPU in addition to their AMD reference cards.

The AMD Radeon RX 7900 series will be launched next week on December 13. AMD has a price tag of $899 and $999 respectively for its XT and XTX variants.
