California Powerball Jackpot Winner, $1 Million Ticket Sold in Quincy, Massachusetts
Jackpot was worth a record $2.04 billion
A single ticket sold in California won the record-setting Powerball jackpot after a technical glitch delayed the highly anticipated draw, but several smaller prizes were won in Massachusetts. According to the game’s website, one ticket worth $1 million has been sold in the Bay State. Massachusetts State Lottery officials confirmed that the $1 million lottery ticket was sold at West Squantum Market and Liquor, located at 205 W. Squantum St. in Quincy. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale of the lottery ticket. Nine other tickets sold in Massachusetts brought in $50,000. Jackpot was estimated at $1.9 billion Monday, but topped Tuesday $2.04 billion morning after updated calculations. The numbers for the Tallahassee, Florida draw were: white balls 10, 33, 41, 47, and 56, and the red Powerball was 10. The Multi-State Lottery Association says Monday night’s Powerball draw was delayed to Tuesday morning because a participating lottery had problems processing sales. The association said it was against its policy to say which lottery had the delay, but the Minnesota Lottery issued a statement saying it was caused by a delay in processing their sales verification system. “The delay was necessary to confirm that the Powerball draw could be conducted safely and accurately,” Minnesota Lottery officials wrote in a statement. “At no point was the integrity of the process compromised.”
