Sarasota County School Board candidates Bridget Ziegler, Tim Enos and Robyn Marinelli are poised to win their election with a conservative clean slate.
With 94 of the 99 counties reporting, Ziegler leads with 55.98% of the vote, and Enos and Marinelli each have about 52% of the vote. Republican voters dominated the polls on Election Day, outvoting Democrats 3 to 1, helping the party overcome an early shortage of Democratic-looking ballots.
In one of the largest nonpartisan elections the area has ever seen, voters cast their vote for their choice of six candidates for three seats. In District 1, the incumbent Ziegler took on Dawnyelle Singleton; in District 4, Marinelli faced Lauren Kurnov; and in District 5, Enos faced Nora Cietek.
