Stimulus Check 2022 Alert: One State Is Giving Out $1,050 Payments

Another stimulus check coming soon for one state:

Despite two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth, Biden’s White House still refuses to admit that the United States’ economy is in recession — and while the president doesn’t want to issue new rounds of federal stimulus, Democratic lawmakers and governors in the entire country is pushing to issue another stimulus check and tax credits before the mid-November term.

One of the states offering significant discounts is California, which is issuing incentive checks worth a staggering $1,050 as early as October. The checks are part of a $17 billion aid package designed to help residents cope with the rising costs of food, fuel and consumer products. The package also included a suspension of the state tax on diesel fuel, all signed by Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom as part of the state’s $308 billion budget.

The latest stimulus package, known as the Middle Class Tax Refund, follows the Golden State Stimulus program.

Stimulus check: are you eligible?

The stimulus package is aimed at middle-class Californians and not just the lowest earners in the state like some previous programs. This time, California taxpayers who earned less than $500,000 in 2021 will be eligible for a refund.

However, the amount of the refund is determined based on the salary of an individual or couple filing jointly, and the number of dependents being claimed.

To receive the payment, you must ensure that you were not eligible to claim as a dependent in the 2020 tax year, and you must also have been a resident of California for more than half of the 2020 tax year. Recipients must also be California residents on the day the payment is made — meaning those who are technically eligible, but have since left California, are not eligible to receive the money.

Your 2020 tax return must also be completed and submitted before October 15, 2021.

How do you receive the Stimulus Check?

If you have submitted your tax return electronically or if you have previously received your 2020 tax refund via direct debit, you will receive the incentive money via direct debit.

Others receive the money on a prepaid debit card, rather than in the form of a paper check.
