Migos: Takeoff’s Latest Instagram Story Before Deadly Shooting
Takeoff, a member of rap trio Migos, was shot dead on Tuesday (Nov. 1) in Houston, Texas.
The rapper – Kirshnik Khari Ball in full – was 28 years old.
Police officers were called at approximately 2:34 a.m. local time (7:34 a.m. GMT) about a shooting outside 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley in downtown Houston, where a private party of about 40 people was taking place.
Takeoff and his Migos bandmate Quavo were both in attendance. Quavo – real name Quavious Keyate Marshall – was not injured in the altercation. The third Migos member, Offset, was not present.
An argument broke out, allegedly after a game of dice, and shots were fired, causing many people to flee the scene in panic.
Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time, police did not name the victim, but identified him as a black man in his twenties. It was Takeoff representatives who first confirmed his death, followed by police confirmation shortly after.
His death is mourned by industry figures and fans, with tributes to the late rapper pouring in on social media.
Celebrities such as James Corden, Drake, SZA, Outkast and Khloé Kardashian have shared posts commemorating the rapper.
So far, no suspects have been arrested, and Houston Police Chief Troy Finner is calling on witnesses to “step up” with information about the shooting.
Police, as well as fans of the rapper, have urged others to remove graphic videos of the incident circulating online.
Where is Quavo after the death of fellow Migos rapper Takeoff?
Following the news of Takeoff’s tragic death, concerned fans wondered about the status of his fellow The Migos bandmate and Uncle Quavo, who was present during the fatal incident.
Houston police said Quavo, who was present at the time of the incident, and Takeoff were at a private party prior to the fatal shooting.
In a subsequent update, police tweeted: “Two other victims taken to hospitals in private vehicles.”
At a later press conference on Tuesday (November 1), the police chief said a 23-year-old man and 24-year-old woman took themselves to hospital in a non-life-threatening condition after the incident.
The news seemingly confirms that 31-year-old Quavo was not among the injured, but his status remains unknown.
