This week’s run of high school football games took a long time to follow up on an exciting first week of the season — and it delivered. IndyStar shows you what’s been happening on the roster around Central Indiana from every angle:
Luke Hansen scored a couple of touchdowns in the second half and rushed to a game-high 182 yards to provide most of the offense for both teams as the Class 4A No. 2 Royals (2-0) broke from a 0-0 halftime score to empty the visiting flashes (1-1). Roncalli delivered just 76 yards of total attack on Franklin Central in a defensive battle.
Malachi Mink ran for a pair of touchdowns to help freshman head coach Casey Gillin score a come-from-behind road win for the Braves (2-0) over the Woodmen (1-1). Mink tied the score at 14 just before half-time with a short TD run and a two-run conversion, then Indian Creek became the game winner late in the third period with an 8-yard scoring run, coupled with the only successful point of the night -after kick, by Eli Bowling.
Rushing – Indian Creek: Mink 13-62, Sauer 5-19, Arj Lothe 6-16, Gerson Coroa 1-(min-3), Team (3-(min-5). Greenwood: Burnett 22-111, Haessig 18 -67, Campbell 6-27.
