The FIFA World Cup 2022 continued on FOX on Tuesday with Morocco beating Spain in a penalty shootout, 3-0, at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar in the penultimate match of the round of 16 tournament.
Later, Portugal will meet Switzerland in Tuesday’s second knockout game (11 a.m. ET, FOX). The winners will go on to play each other in the quarter-finals, which will conclude on Saturday, December 10.

Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and defender Nayef Aguerd were unable to connect with a pass, and Spain almost turned it into a goal. Shortly after the ball, Gavi’s shot was deflected off the crossbar, after which Ferran Torres’ shot was disallowed offside.
In the end, Spain was ruled out for offside.

Morocco defender Noussair Mazraoui came from a thunderous shot, but Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon blocked the attempt.

Bono achieved his most timely World Cup refusal for Morocco in the closing seconds of the second half, when he disallowed Olmo’s shot attempt.
