An upset FIFA World Cup 2022 continues Wednesday on FOX with Spain faced Costa Ricaand we’ve got you covered with every must-see moment from start to finish!

Rather, underdog Morocco competed 2018 runner-up Croatia to a scoreless draw, and Japan stunned Germany with two late goals for a 2–1 win.

Spain, the 2010 World Cup champions, will try to avoid the same fate as the other European selections on Wednesday. The Spaniards have a strong preference (-769 on FOX Bet) to win against a team from Costa Rica that failed to get past the group stage in 2018. However, Costa Rica will look to replicate the formula Japan and Saudi Arabia have used by leaning on fantastic goalkeeping from star Keylor Navas, who has a long career of European club experience at Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Spain vs Costa Rica

Enrique believes in his team

Since winning it all in 2010, Spain has had mixed results in recent World Cups. In 2018, Spain were upset by hosts Russia in the Round of 16, and in 2014 they failed to progress beyond the group stage. This year’s roster is filled with young talent, with a total of nine players combined from the big clubs FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. Manager Luis Enrique, himself a former Spain national team player, believes his squad has what it takes to return Spain to World Cup glory.

Costa Rica sings loud and proud

Costa Rica is in its third consecutive World Cup, even reaching the quarter-finals in 2014. However, the players were still soaked in the moment and showed their national pride during their national anthem.

5′ – Missed opportunity for Spain

Dani Olmo had a clear view of goal after a brilliant pass, but his shot went wide in a great missed opportunity for Spain to take an early lead.

11′: Dani doesn’t miss this time!

Some fine footwork from Olmo in the penalty area took Navas out of the net, and Olmo knocked the ball past the Costa Rica keeper for a brilliant goal to put Spain 1-0 up.
